Lenton Brae’s winery is an architectural icon of the Margaret River wine region. It was designed by Bruce Tomlinson in 1989. Prior to developing Lenton Brae, Bruce was an architect and town planning consultant. The winery is constructed with rammed earth, a typical building material of the district comprising solid gravel and cement walls 350 mm wide.

This results in an impressive, solid, fortress-like construction which is cool in summer and warm in winter. As well as tasting our wines, visitors to the cellar door can enjoy our magnificent lead light window. Entitled ‘Sunlight Through Canopy’ by Perth artist Heather Jones, this window beautifully captures the effect of the sun’s rays as they filter through the vines.

The building also incorporates a viewing platfrom from which both a panoramic view of the Wilyabrup Valley and the winery operations can be safely observed. In 1998 the Busselton Shire Council heritage listed the building for its architectural significance.
